About Thomas
Around Christmastime of 2011, a local pastor challenged me to read through the Bible in a year. I took on his challenge, and by the time I was done, I was convinced that I wasn’t just reading God’s Word—God’s Word was reading me! By the end of 2012, I was certain that there was a God, that He was the God described in the Bible, and that I desperately needed to have my relationship with him repaired.
After a soul-crushing season of trying and failing to be the sort of “good” person I thought God would approve of, I finally confessed in January of 2014 that I’d never be good enough to earn His favour, and begged Him to forgive and live me anyways. This was when I first truly believed the gospel—the good news that Jesus died on the cross for my sins, and that the one and only way to be right with God was by trusting in Him. As soon as I cried out, an overwhelming sense of peace, hope, and relief washed over me, and I knew that something had changed—God had heard me, forgiven me, and adopted me as His child!
Since that day, the Lord has been faithfully and consistently at work in my heart and life, making me more like Him and gradually showing me how I fit into His plans to glorify Himself and build His kingdom. After a journey that included teaching at two Christian schools, pursuing pastoral training at Heritage Seminary, and pastoring at both Redemption St. Thomas and another local church, I currently have the immense privilege and honour of serving the Lord in my hometown as the Lead Pastor of Redemption St. Thomas.
Closer to home, I’m blessed to have been married to my best friend Kristin since 2015, and to have been entrusted by God with three indescribably precious children: James (age 6), Aria (age 4), and Johnathan (age 2). When I’m not at the church, you can often find me playing, praying, reading, or snuggling with them!
I’m incredibly excited about our church’s mission to glorify God through the fulfillment of the Great Commission in the spirit of the Great Commandment, and can’t wait to see what He’ll do next as He builds up His people and builds out His kingdom here in St. Thomas and beyond. If you sense the Lord leading you to come and be a part of what He’s doing here, I hope you’ll join us!
