1. God the Father is a Good, Good Father

Luke 6:27-36

“But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak o not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”

“If you love those who love you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what benefit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you expect to receive, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to sinners, to get back the same amount. But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return.”

“But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, expecting nothing in return, and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, for he is kind to the ungrateful and the evil. Be merciful, even as your Father is merciful.”

Gifts from God the Father:

  • He gives “the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him.” (Luke 11:13)
  • He gives His people His kingdom. (Luke 12:32)
  • He promises us “power from on high”. (Luke 24:49)
  • He gives us hope and eternal comfort. (2 Thess. 2:16)
  • He gives love with faith. (Eph. 6:23)
  • He gives the Spirit of wisdom (Ephesians 1:17)
  • He gives grace (13 epistles)
  • He gives peace (13 epistles)

2. God the Father is the Father of our Salvation

God the Father planned our rescue.

Ephesians 1:3-5, “Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ.”

God the Father sent our rescuer.

Words:

John 8:28, “When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he, and that I do nothing on my own authority, but speak just as the Father taught me.”

John 12:49-50, “I have not spoken on my own authority, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment — what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I say, therefore, I say as the Father has told me.”

Works:

John 5:36, “The works that the Father has given me to accomplish, the very works I am doing, bear witness about me that the Father has sent me.”

John 10:32, “I have shown you many good works from the Father; for which of them are you going to stone me?”
