Theological Foundations
The Doctrine of Salvation

Tell You A Story:

Genesis 1:1, 26-28; 2:15-17; 3:1-6, 14-19, 22-24
Romans 5:12
Romans 3:10 – 12

The Story of Humanity:

Created by God, in His image, but suffering under sin’s curse

We are:

  • Alienated from God
  • Depraved
  • Afflicted
  • Hell-bound

A soft, subtle, uncertain note of Hope

Genesis 3:15, “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.”

The Genealogy of Jesus Christ

The Effects of Sin and Jesus’ Life & Ministry

The Effects of Salvation’s Grace

  1. Our salvation reverses sin’s curse by brining us from alienation to adoption.
  2. Salvation reverses sin’s curse by bringing us from depravity to desiring God.
  3. Salvation reverses sin’s curse by brining us from affliction to alignment.
  4. Salvation reverses sin’s curse by bringing us from being Hell-bound to being headed for Heaven.

Already – but not yet

  • You’re adopted, but your intimacy is very interruptible.
  • You desire God but not always.
  • You’re aligned, but still a struggle + Creation
  • You’re headed for Heaven, but you’re not there yet.
